Our staff have extensive background experience working in theatre, including regional, West End and touring. Projects they have worked on all over the country include complete sound and lighting systems for the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, complete sound system for the Wakefield Theatre and Opera House. The following is some information on some of our more recent projects:

The Old Courthouse is a large stone-built Victorian-style building in the heart of Brighton town centre.

After being used as a store for many years the building had become dis-used and in a poor state of repair. Brighton and Hove Council decided to renovate the building as a multi-purpose lecture theatre.

An existing large Lecture theatre in the quad at York St John University was divided into two, with one half becoming a new Drama Studio and the other a new Lecture Theatre.

Drama by design worked as part of a design team to design the space and develop a technical specification. We worked with the contractors to ensure satisfactory completion of the project.

York College is a £60 million development consisting of a new 29,350 sq m facility at Sim Balk Lane in York.

Drama by Design specified all the technical systems for the Lecture Theatre, which incorporated a complete audio visual system consisting of an electric roller projection screen, high power projector, stage lighting system and audio system all controlled from a touch screen mounted on a fixed lectern. An induction loop hard of hearing system was also installed.
