Our staff have extensive background experience working in theatre, including regional, West End and touring. Projects they have worked on all over the country include complete sound and lighting systems for the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, complete sound system for the Wakefield Theatre and Opera House. The following is some information on some of our more recent projects:

This was a brand new 750 seat theatre built on the outskirts of Manama in Bahrain. The theatre is multi purpose, used primarily for plays and musicalc performances.

Drama by Design worked on the acoustics of the building to ensure good quality sound reproduction. An acoustic simulation software program was used to predict the acoustics of the space and the performance of the proposed sound system.

Drama by Design also carried out full commissioning of all the installed sound, lighting and communication systems to ensure that the systems complied with the specification.

Capel Soar is an imposing Baptist Chapel in Penygraig, Wales.

Drama by design worked with the client Valleys Kids on the complete refurbishment of the main theatre space as well as foyer, reception and meeting rooms.

The 1st floor hall is a multi-function, fully disabled accessible performance space with a high quality state of the art stage setting for a wide variety of activities.

A tension wire grid was installed at roof level to aid the rigging and focussing of sound and lighting equipment.

A 3D model of the proposed new Cultural Centre in Bahrain was drawn in the Acoustical Modelling software EASE. This enabled our engineers to evaluate the acoustics of the building and make recommendations as to the overall design of the building and finishes to be used.

We then wrote a detailed specification for the stage lighting, sound and audio visual systems, which was tendered to give companies. The work was monitored through to commissioning and testing.
