Bloomberg Television, London

This project involved the creation of a new state-of-the art newsroom within existing office space at Bloomberg's London headquarters.

Drama by Design worked on the design, specifica tion and integration of the studio lighting systems. This included co-ordinating the installation with the heating and ventilation and fire alarm systems and integrating the works into the existing building. As the studio is within an existing office space the design was based as far as possible around utilising LED light sources to minimise the heat output. The entire installation is extremely flexible with a network of lighting bars incorporating both dimmed and switched outlets and a DMX lighting control network distributed over Ethernet across the lighting grid.

Drama by Design project managed the installation of the studio lighting system through to completion including full testing and commissioning of the completed installation. This also involved rigging and focussing all the luminaires across several sessions and programming of the lighting control console.

Archbishop Holgates School, York

The new £ 4.3 million building - known as the LearningCentre@AHS - is stuffed full of the latest equipment and technology. The emphasis at the new centre is very much on hands-on, vocational learning, as much as purely academic study.

The building is a stunning and modern two storey block with a glass front wall, curved roof, and large windows facing the school's playing fields. The building is light, spacious and airy and it has facilities schools could only have dreamed of ten years ago. The building incorporates a professional standard HD TV Studio, a music edit suite and video edit suite.

The TV Studio features a full lighting grid and wrap around curtain track providing a range of backdrops. The lighting utilises LED fittings wherever possible to keep heat output and running costs to a minimum. Three HD cameras have been provided, these can be connected to panels on the studio walls and controlled from the control room or used elsewhere in the school. The control room equipment is to a professional standard with an HD vision mixer, high quality monitoring, recording and editing equipment.

Drama by Design worked with the client to develop the brief to produce a detailed specification working with the builder to integrate all the works.
